Good news for Wandsworth Common users

The High Court has ruled against Wandsworth Borough Council’s (WBC) appeal against a decision last year that use of Common land exclusively by a commercial venture fell outside the council’s powers, under the legislation governing the Common. In this case WBC wanted to lease Neal’s Lodge and cottage to a commercially operated private chain of fee paying day care centres. The Management Advisory Committee of Wandworth Common had been appealing for funds for legal costs to fight the appeal by WBC.
